Marian Cox
Marian Cox creates carefully rendered images in graphite and colour pencil on paper. Marian carefully translates existing imagery in her chosen medium, with her own subtle adaptations in colour and form. Marian’s subject matter often includes imagery that is calming, or which carries positive associations for her. Marian’s work follows careful and quiet observation.
“Ever since I was young, I’ve favoured working with colour pencils, instead of paint or other traditional mediums. They feel natural for me to use. I love detail. My work focuses on carefully reproducing images I like and observing closely. I strive for perfection but I also allow for my work to adapt and change to make each piece my very own.”
Most of all, Marian continues to enjoy the contemplative and soothing aspects of following her creative process:
“I love getting involved with what I’m drawing and forgetting what is going on in the world. I even forget the time sometimes! If I’ve got something going on, drawing helps me forget and take a break from the challenges of life.”
