Isaiah Godfrey (Ngāi Tahu) makes stencil art and paints skateboards. He predominantly uses paint pens and spray paint to explore ideas that relate to colourfulness, space and skateboarding. He describes the vibe of his art as psychedelic, sci-fi and awesome. Isaiah also enjoys expressing himself through clothing, layering patterns and colour and jewellery.

“It gives something for people to look at, talk about and makes them smile.”

Isaiah’s personal philosophy is ‘home is wherever the skateboard takes me’. This inspires him to get thinking and begin action – he is always trying out new things and learning new skills with his art. Isaiah’s favourite artists are skateboard deck artists, an artform he also enjoys, using spraypaints and stencils on his vast collection of decks.
