Deanna morgan

Deanna Morgan (Tainui, Ngā Puhi) is a multi-media artist, working across a range of mediums including paint, digital art and printmaking. Her artworks focus heavily on re-occurring characters and deeply developed storylines.

Whānau has heavily inspired Deanna’s art practice. “My Dad has shared his passion for Māori art and language…He’s told me about the kaitaiaki the whales, the lizards, the lore.” This sharing of knowledge has fed into the designs and realms Deanna explores.

Deanna also collaborates on projects with her brother. Focusing on each others diverse skills helps to develop stronger storylines within her artworks and the characters within them. Having returned to woodcuts for the first time in years, Deanna says that printmaking allows her to find a fresh approach, experimentation with carving and lines, as well as sketching designs.
