Cahaya Milne

A printmaker, Cahaya Milne uses art as a tool to process grief and heal. She loves how the medium is fast, aggressive and minimalist.

“It’s about all the jagged and gestural lines, the little mistakes.”

Her recent prints are heavily inspired by Matisse’s blue nudes and seeing naked bodies in different poses in life drawing classes.

Cahaya’s creative practice includes collaged prints – an alternative way to approach the multi-coloured print process. Her work is inspired by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner.  But the biggest inspiration, she says, comes from Pinterest.

Cahaya is a tactile, hands-on learner, a lover of nature, flowers, and weddings.

Cahaya is as vibrant as the artworks she is creating. With pink- and coral-coloured streaks in her hair, dressed head to toe in hues of violet and to top it off two pairs of groovy crocs (one platformed and pink, the other pair lilac with a teeny tiny matching key chain version).
