Kenny Tetauwharenui Birch

Kenny Tetauwharenui Birch (Tainui) comes from a family of artists.  He began noticing a love of art and creativity in primary school and from there creativity continued to flow. Now, Kenny’s main mediums are printmaking and sketching. Whakapapa and nature heavily influence Kenny’s art, as well as traditional Māori patterns such as koru.

“A lot of my art is inspired by my Māori culture, always has been.”

Recently, Kenny has been exploring his pepeha using motifs that represent Tainui (his iwi), Taupiri (his maunga) and the Waikato (his awa).
